Answer: Management is the Pursuit of Flexibility The most important discussion when it comes to employment relationship is the flexibility that is present in the work force. Many researches have suggested that the employment pattern continued to change over the past years. The management in any organization nowadays demands flexibility amongst the employees that enables them to tackle various tasks at a particular time with a high performance level. This helped the management to get immediate results from the employees regarding the job that they carry out in the organization. To secure the job for the employees, the management of all the organizations had come up with the training and development scheme that helped the employees to enhance their skills. Flexibility in the workplace can be divided in to four parts such as functional flexibility, which helps the employees to put together their skills that will increase the productivity level. Numerical flexibility is the temporary hiring of employees so that the target can be met wi thin the organization. Financial flexibility is taken up by the management, which helps them to reduce the cost of labor so that profits can be maximized in the organization. Temporal flexibility enables the management to change the shift timings of the laborers so that the demands can be achieved by the organization. Flexibility in a hotel Industry The hospitality industry faces a positive impact with respect to productivity of labor, quality of service and the profits due to the flexibility in the industry. When the management takes up numerical flexibility, it causes a negative impact on the attitudes of the employees. Research has shown that the hotel industry has not mastered the art of functional flexibility in a proper manner. The management needs to identify the variables that are present in the organization so that it can influence the attitudes and the behaviors of the employees with respect to flexibility. The flexibility of the employees are divided in to three levels that are flexibility towards the employer, colleagues and the guests. Employer flexibility is the following of rules and regulations by the employees that are laid down in the industry. To be flexible towards the colleagues means to give them assistance and support that they need if they face any issues in the work or in a stressful situation. With resp ect to flexibility towards the guests, it means that the employees need to have a positive attitude when the guests need any help and full attention needs to be given to them.
